  39. Firstly, you won't need 67meg of swap unless you're doing something 
  40. REALLY memory-hungry.  I have 20meg mem and almost never go into swap.

  42. On to your question, I can certainly rule out it installing onto the RAM 
  43. disc, since the RAM disc is a fixed size.  It is possible that, since 
  44. you only have 8meg normal ram, the decompression of a large RPM (how 
  45. large is the one it's getting stuck on?) could cause it to swap, but I 
  46. rather doubt it.  Try, when it seems to have stopped working, switching 
  47. to the virtual terminal (Alt-F2) and do 'cd /mnt' (this is where your 
  48. root partition will be mounted AFAICR) and then 'ls'.  If you see just 
  49. one item (lost+found) and the installer has already been through one RPM, 
  50. you can be sure it's  not installing to the hard drive.  If there is 
  51. something there then at least something's working.

  58. Well really the normal installation guide should suffice for installation 
  59. via ftp.  However, since a lot of people seem to have problems installing 
  60. armlinux (which is a pain in the neck, I must admit) it might be a nice 
  61. idea for everyone who has had a problem with installation and can 
  62. remember the solution to collate their solutions and shove a 'frequently 
  63. encountered problems' file on the ftp site.  I'm quite happy to do the 
  64. collation myself, so if anyone could send me their problems and solutions 
  65. please do.  It might take a while to get it sorted (final exams coming 
  66. up) but I'll try and get something ready if enough people respond.
